Drawing

Children have the opportunities to draw using a variety of tools including sketching pencils, charcoal, chalk and pastels, as well as experiment with mark making using objects such as sticks or feathers.

In EYFS the children begin to learn how to control the tools to create meaningful marks and representations of images they can see.  Year 1 develop children's accuracy in their work through observational drawing and adding texture by experimenting with different marks such as cross hatching and sketching.  In Year 2 they continue to develop children's drawing skills by introducing shading and blending to add tone to their work.
