Whitstable Rugby Club

Well done to Rafe, Luke, Lawrence, Sunny, Martha and Trewin who all took part in a Whitstable RFC Tag Rugby mini tournament this term. They all played fantastically and were awarded medals for their participation.

Our Year 2 children all enjoyed participating in a Tag Rugby workshop with Whitstable RFC coach Roger Dengate. This kicked off their term of Tag Rugby lessons. Hopefully this will inspire some of our children to continue playing rugby at Whitstable RFC!

We have been delighted to be able to offer Clubs to all year groups in Term 6. Years 1 and 2 continue our longstanding link with Football Futures, a local football academy. Reception children have been enjoying a MultiSkills Club with SportsZone Academy, run by Mr Dickinson who used to work at Westmeads as our Sports TA!

Both Year 2 classes enjoyed a taster session of Badminton at the start of 2020, when Lesley from Canterbury Racket Pack (supported by Badminton England) came in to introduce them to the sport. The children enjoyed trying something new, and were keen to carry on playing. Lesley has also run a Badminton Club for our KS1 children, where the children have participated in fun, active and engaging sessions which have developed their badminton skills and overall fitness. Mrs Thomas has also worked alongside Lesley to develop her own knowledge and skills in teaching Badminton.

We would like to extend our thanks to Katrina MacDonald who came to offer us a Street Dance workshop during curriculum time.  It was such a wonderful experience for all of those who took part that we have invited Ms MacDonald to offer an after-school 'Street Dance' club. This an extremely popular club for both boys and girls.

Our Year 1 children enjoyed their tennis lessons during Term 1 which were provided by Appeti tennis allowing the children to achieve a beginners' skills certificate when they completed the course.

Our links with 'Football Futures', a locally run academy, continue this term.  Football sessions will again be offered to all children in Years 1 and 2 through an after-school club.
