Welcome! All the children have settled well into Purple Class and are enjoying Year 1.
Our theme has been based around Ourselves and the children have been discussing what makes them unique. We talked about families and pets, our appearances and communities and clubs the children belong to. The children have learnt about their bodies and how to stay clean and healthy. Also the children have been thinking about how they have changed in their lives - thank you for all those lovely baby and toddler photographs! A big thank you as well to all the grandparents (and great-grandparents!) who visited the class to talk to the children.
The children celebrated National Poetry Day by writing their own poems and sharing one of these in a whole school assembly. They also learnt about the life of Formula 1 racing car driver Lewis Hamilton as part of Black History Day / Week.
Well done to Polly and Lucas for beginning their roles as Purple class School Councillors and well done also to Iris and Charlie who are Purple Class Eco Warriors. We are sure you will all have great ideas to help support the school.
I would like to wish everyone a big well done for a brilliant start to Year 1 and an excellent term!
