Art Exhibition
Tue 29 Jan 2019Art Exhibition
Continuing the plastic theme, schools from the Coastal Alliance are holding an art exhibition at the Horsebridge in Whitstable entitled ‘Our Blue Planet’. The exhibition is inspired by Sir David Attenborough’s Blue Planet programme and he has written a letter of support for the exhibition, which will be displayed for you to read.
Westmeads’ children have been working hard to make an installation out of recycled plastic depicting a coral reef. The exhibition is running from the 31st January – 11th February and all families are invited to come along to view the wonderful work that the children have produced.

Kent Teacher of the Year Awards
Thu 17 Jan 2019Submit a nomination for the Kent Teacher of the Year Awards
Nominations open on January 1 for Kent Teacher of the Year Awards and will be accepted until March 1.
As you know, at Westmeads Community Infant School our staff and volunteers work hard for each and every pupil.
It would be wonderful if parents and friends of the school would consider nominating staff and volunteers who make a stand-out contribution in your eyes. This is a huge encouragement to all nominees, and a big public pat-on-the-back for winners and their schools.
Award categories include primary, secondary, newly qualified teacher, non-teaching member of staff including dinner ladies and caretakers, and a volunteer award including members of the PTA, governors and other voluntary roles including, for example, reading supporters and those who support extra-curricular activities.
A panel of independent judges will decide the winners in each category for our district, and the winners will be announced in May.
Follow stories about Kent Teacher of the Year on Twitter @InspireSchools1 and #KTOTY.
You have from January 1 until March 1 to nominate. So get thinking, and then simply visit www.kentteacheroftheyear.co.uk and fill in the online nomination form.
Thank you!
